Joe
Haemer is a PhD student working with Dr. Nicholas Giori and
Dr. Dennis Carter. Joe's research focuses on the aetiology
of osteoarthritis following meniscectomy. As part of this
research, Joe has experimentally measured cartilage contact
pressures pre- and post meniscectomy using a sheep model and
a custom loading device. As well as providing fundamental knowledge
regarding the role of the meniscus, this information is very
useful to the orthopaedic surgeon, who routinely performs these
surgeries. |
